Murrupi is a comic based on a the manuscript of Justo Rubiños Andrade, a priest of Mórrope, a sleepy town in the 1750s. 'Morrope' means iguana in moche, an anceant language of Peru, and this legend tells how an iguana helped rescue a whole community and thanks to the iguana they founded their town in that place.
This beautiful legend is unfortunately not very well known, even today in the town of Morrope only a few families live there, who leave daily to work in nearby cities; the migration of young people is evident and in the evenings you can only see old people taking care of very young children whose parents go out to work. The legend tells of the beginning of the village of Morrope, where thanks to a curious iguana a whole village could be founded.
